Lifestyle newborn sessions are perfect for any family looking to have a hands-off approach to their newborn portraits. These sessions focus on the parents reading the baby a book or breastfeeding in the nursery. Lifestyle newborn sessions could include siblings or pets snuggling the new baby. Honestly, the possibilities are endless for lifestyle sessions!
I often get asked about the differences between my posed newborn and lifestyle newborn session. The main differences is the lifestyle sessions are hand-off which means I do minimal posing. In the posed newborn sessions, I do precisely that, pose the newborn! These are the images you see when the baby snuggles a teddy with a cute headband or knitted newborn outfit. The posed newborn session takes much longer due to outfits and wrap changes.
I have had the honor to capture Jen and Mike’s engagement session at Barnegat Lighthouse, wedding at Mallard Island Yacht Club, maternity session at Allaire State Park, and now lifestyle newborn session in their home. I love that I can continue to capture their family through all these huge milestones!
Mr. Gavin did so well in his newborn session too! We captured portraits in their living room, interacting with one another. Even Gavin’s big brother, Lucus, got to hold him! Lucus did so well for portraits, too, with big smiles and was willing to hold baby Gavin. Sometimes it can be a struggle capturing portraits with toddlers, but Lucus was all smile the whole time! Word of advice, though, for any toddler parents, have no expectations. The kids are the ultimate bosses for a photo session. My motto is if we can’t get smiley looking at the camera portraits and all else fails, then let’s play! More often than not, these. candid style images because parents favorite.
