Stormy Bellevue State Park Engagement Session | Sarah and Nick | Ultimate Edge Photography

First off, I think Bellevue State Park in Wilmington Delaware is my most favorite place to photograph from now on! Don’t get me wrong, I have a lot of favorites, but Bellevue State Park is officially number one on my list! Why you might ask? Well, even though beautiful gardens and parks with flowers, gazebos, and bridges are pretty… in the grand scheme of things, it really boils down to the lighting!

I can make any location look gorgeous, however, it takes a lot of back end work sometimes even at the most beautiful spots to make the images look stunning. One of my favorite locations is Sayen House and Gardens but the foliage is so thick that it creates what I like to call “dark spots” in the images and casks green onto my clients’ skin so editing is a nightmare for me later!

Moral of me saying all of this is that Bellevue State Park had the perfect… everything! The lighting was so spectacular that the images from Sarah and Nick’s engagement session were almost perfect straight out of the camera! Of course, it does make my life easier when you have a great couple too!

Not only was Bellevue State Park a beautiful location for an engagement session, but it was also the same place where Nick proposed to Sarah! I was so excited to learn of this when Sarah chose this location because it will make their engagement images mean so much more to them! The images below that look like they are in a magical forest were taken in the same exact spot where Nick popped the question!! Ugh, so romantic!

We were battling with the worry of rain the whole day before their session, even a few days before. Luckily, the sun started to shine just minutes into starting their session which created some of my favorite images by the lake! Towards the end of the session, it started to drizzle but Sarah and Nick were troopers and didn’t even let a little bit of rain get in the way of their session!

I am not kidding when I say that within 5 minutes of saying our goodbyes and getting into our cars it started to downpour! We honestly could not have asked for a better scenario. The weather worked out so perfectly for us, giving us exactly enough time to shoot their engagement session without any worry! That, my friends, is what I like to call a perfect session!
