Why I Love Being a Maternity and Newborn Photographer

Tiny details and sleepy smiles always make my heart melt. This posed newborn photography session for Arabella felt extra special. As a maternity and newborn photographer, I love capturing families during every exciting milestone. However, this session felt even more personal because mom and dad are my neighbors. They live right around the corner from me, which made everything feel so comfortable and fun.

Mom booked her maternity session very last minute at 38 weeks pregnant. Thankfully, we made it happen just in time. She looked absolutely stunning in a soft peach gown that matched my light and airy style perfectly. Meanwhile, Dad kept everything relaxed and sweet throughout the session. They were both incredibly kind and easygoing from start to finish.

Now that I have a commercial studio, sessions look a little different. However, Arabella’s newborn session happened when I still worked from my home studio. Honestly, these images still feel so timeless and beautiful. As a maternity and newborn photographer, I always focus on creating soft setups and natural emotion. Therefore, this session blended posed portraits with cozy family moments perfectly.

A Cozy Studio Experience with a Maternity and Newborn Photographer

Arabella absolutely amazed me during her session. She slept so well and settled into every pose beautifully. Because of that, we captured so many adorable setups in one session. The soft pink tones looked perfect with her dark hair and tiny features. Additionally, her little expressions made every image even sweeter.

I especially loved the floral basket setup. The dusty pink colors gave the portraits a soft, romantic feel. Meanwhile, the wrapped images highlighted just how tiny and delicate she was. As a maternity and newborn photographer, I always recommend incorporating neutral and pastel tones into newborn sessions. These colors photograph beautifully and keep the focus on the baby.

We also added a few Christmas-themed photos during the session. The tiny mug and festive green outfit were absolutely adorable. Since Arabella was born near the holidays, these images felt extra meaningful. Furthermore, seasonal newborn photos become treasured keepsakes for years to come.

Of course, family photos were equally important during this session. Mom and Dad looked so happy holding their sweet baby girl. Their connection felt genuine and effortless in every image. Because they trusted my vision completely, the entire session flowed naturally.

As a maternity and newborn photographer, moments like these remind me why I love this job so much. Watching families grow is truly incredible. From a last-minute maternity session to newborn snuggles, every chapter matters. Thankfully, Arabella’s session captured all of those memories beautifully.

If you are searching for a maternity and newborn photographer, I would love to help tell your family’s story, too. Contact me HERE to learn more about my packaging and experience!
